NANJING, China – As global precision investment casting industries face rising demand for complex geometries, tighter dimensional tolerances and greener production practices, traditional shell removal methods are increasingly struggling to keep pace. Addressing this industry gap, Fedjetting, a leading Chinese national high-tech enterprise with deep expertise in ultra-high pressure waterjet technology and industrial automation, has introduced its upgraded full line of high-pressure water deshelling systems, delivering a highly efficient, non-damaging and sustainable alternative for foundries worldwide.

Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Nanjing, Fedjetting holds certifications as a National High-Tech Enterprise, National Science and Technology-Based SME, and Provincial Specialized, Refined, Differential and Innovative (SRDI) SME. The company focuses on the R&D and manufacturing of automated, intelligent ultra-high pressure water application solutions, serving a global client base across aerospace, semiconductor, new energy, automotive, medical device and other advanced manufacturing sectors. Guided by its core philosophy of “creating customer value through technological innovation”, Fedjetting continues to push the boundaries of industrial waterjet technology.

Technology Edge: Non-Contact, Damage-Free, Eco-Friendly

At the core of Fedjetting’s deshelling solution is mature ultra-high pressure waterjet technology. Powered by a high-performance plunger pump as the core power unit, the system pressurizes standard tap water to 600–1400 bar, delivering a concentrated single-orifice linear jet through a self-driven rotating nozzle structure. By programming the jet’s travel path in either manual or automatic mode, the system achieves uniform full-surface coverage, translating precise point-by-point impact into consistent large-area processing.

Unlike traditional mechanical blasting, chemical stripping or manual chiseling, the high-pressure water jet acts exclusively on the ceramic mold shell, exerting no mechanical stress on the underlying casting workpiece. This non-contact approach ensures zero damage to delicate features, complex internal cavities and thin-walled structures — a critical advantage for high-precision components. The process also eliminates hazardous chemical waste and reduces airborne dust emissions, fully aligning with global green manufacturing and environmental compliance standards.

Three Configurations for Diverse Production Scenarios

To match varying production volumes, workpiece complexities and operational setups, Fedjetting offers three tailored system configurations:

  • Flexible Manual Deshelling System: Designed for high-mix, low-volume production, this configuration features a highly maneuverable handheld gun with a built-in recoil-free design, giving operators full flexibility to process irregularly shaped workpieces while significantly reducing physical fatigue.
  • Automatic Robotic Deshelling System: Optimized for high-volume serial production, this upgraded model integrates an industrial robotic manipulator as the execution unit, enabling single-operator supervision or fully unattended batch operation. The system is embedded with dedicated process control software for real-time equipment monitoring, parameter adjustment and production data tracking.
  • Manual-Automatic Hybrid Deshelling System: A versatile solution that combines automated batch processing efficiency with on-demand manual flexibility, ideal for foundries with mixed production lines of standard and custom workpieces. Fedjetting has further enhanced this model with an upgraded process software suite and a built-in parameter database, drastically cutting down process development time and trial runs for new products.
